How to Clean Brass Fixtures
When it comes to cleaning your brass fixtures, the simpler the better. Avoid using steel wool or other abrasive cleaning tools to clean brass fixtures. You can soak your shower heads in white vinegar to get the hard water buildup or water spots off. Another mixture that works well is mixing warm water with white vinegar and a dish soap like Dawn. Spray it onto your fixtures and let sit. Then you can wipe the mixture away with a soft cloth.

Tips for Decorating with Brass
Mix Metals for a Contemporary Look
Mixing metals throughout a space is a great way to add a contemporary flare to the overall look. The best way to do that is to make sure certain elements of the space match finishes. For example, if your light fixtures above your vanity are a matte black, the other light fixtures in the room should be black too. However, if you want to incorporate a brass finish on your tub and shower, then they should match, along with your sink fixtures.
Choose Similar Finishes
When you’re updating fixtures in a bathroom or other room in your home, you want to be sure the finishes jive well together. One brass finish can look very different from another, so keep that in mind when you’re changing your shower head, sink fixtures, towel racks or other fixtures.
Add Greenery Throughout the Space
To add a pop of color, try adding a faux or real green plant to the space. You can add a small one to your vanity or hang eucalyptus in the shower for a spa-like experience.
Use White Tile Against the Brass Fixture
Brass is a bold color. Therefore, sticking to a white tiled shower or tub will help those fixtures pop against the white. You can also opt to use white countertops in a marble, quartz or other materials on your vanity.
Decorate with Brass or Gold
To tie in the brass fixtures throughout the space, decorate with brass or gold colors. You can incorporate those colors in picture frames, canisters to hold cotton balls or other decor pieces.
Incorporate Wallpaper
While I wouldn’t recommend wallpaper necessarily in a bathroom with a tub or shower, a powder room is a perfect place to incorporate a fun printed wallpaper. Choose one that has flecks of gold in it to tie into your brass fixtures.
Add Wood Pieces to Your Space
If you’re using a lot of white in your bathroom, add some wood pieces throughout the bathroom. You can add a teak stool to your shower to add an earthy vibe. Baskets are another great way to add texture and a deep color, plus they’re great for adding extra storage for towels.
Keep a Simple, Clutter-Free Bathroom
For your bathrooms decor and beauty to really shine, keep it clutter-free. Do a clean out of your cabinets and closets, so you can have a place for each item in your bathroom. It will feel more calming when it’s tidy.
Incorporate a Rug in the Space
Another fun way to add color and texture to your bathroom is to add a rug. It not only gives a fun design element, but also is more comfortable to stand on while you’re getting ready.
Choose a Matte Finish
Though brass finishes are very much on-trend, the shiny brass is definitely not. To keep with the modern theme of brass, opt for a matte finish. We don’t want to go back to what our childhood bathrooms looked like. ;)
